G.W. Becker, INC. has an opening for Estimator Level I.

 The Estimator Level 1 is responsible for providing accurate material, labor, and time estimates and proposals for capital equipment projects. The position involves establishing base cost standards, maintaining a costing database, and developing costing spreadsheets to ensure efficient estimating procedures. The Estimator Level 1 will work closely with various departments, including Sales, Engineering, Accounting, Purchasing, Production, and Service, to ensure customer requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Review and understand customer specifications and drawings to qualify customer needs and requests.

2. Research previous jobs for comparable builds and adjust estimates as necessary.

3. Prepare formal proposals and quotes with detailed equipment specifications, delivery, payment terms, lead times, and terms and conditions.

4. Communicate with vendors, Sales, Engineering, Accounting, Purchasing, Production, and Service departments as required.

5. Revise quotes as needed to meet customer requirements and review customer purchase orders to ensure accuracy.

6. Develop and maintain a costing database, create costing spreadsheets, and establish base standard item pricing for quotes.

7. Collaborate with Engineers and other technical staff to ensure accurate estimates and proposals.

Required Competencies:

1. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs.

2. Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

3. Ability to plan and organize work, set priorities, and work as a team member.

4. Enthusiasm, initiative, and customer focus orientation.

5. Ability to negotiate and persuade others.

6. Understanding of engineering principles, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics.

7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.

* 2+ years of related training and experience in estimating, engineering, or a related field.

* Equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training may be considered.

Work Environment:

* The Estimator Level 1 will work in an office environment, with potential interactions with various departments and external vendors.

* The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
